There is enough room for both

Solomon’s Temple and The Second Temple

Solomon’s Temple is also known as the first Beit HaMikdash (the First Temple). Archaeologists agree that it stood on Mount Moriah.

Four hundred and ten years after its completion, it was utterly destroyed by the Babylonians when they besieged Jerusalem and no trace of it remains. After the Babylonian destruction, most of the Jewish population of Israel was forcibly exiled from the land.

Fifty years later, after Babylon was captured by Persia, the Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem. Under the leadership of Zerubavel and Nechemiah, the Jews rebuilt both the Temple and walls around the city (Nechemia 4-6).

This rebuilt temple is known as the Second Temple (Bayit Sheni). It stood for 420 years on the same site as the First Temple, on Mount Moriah. The Second Temple was remodeled several times, but reached its most magnificent form during the reign of King Herod the Great (37-4 BCE).

Also during the Second Temple period, during the time of Christ, there was an arched bridge built from the East Gate of the Temple to the Mount of Olives. This bridge kept priests and pilgrims from having to walk the “unclean” valley below which were burial places. Historical sources say that the east wall of the Temple was built shorter than the other walls. This was so that when the high priest went out of the camp to sacrifice the red heifer he could see the Temple from where he was standing.  The Mount of Olives was directly east of the Temple. From this and historical sources, we know that the red heifer was sacrificed on the Mount of Olives.

The Dome of the Rock

The Dome of the Rock (Arabic: مسجد قبة الصخرة‎, translit.: Masjid Qubbat As-Sakhrah, Hebrew: כיפת הסלע‎, translit.: Kipat Hasela) is a shrine located on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. The domed basilica structure was patterned after the Christian Church of the Holy Sepulcher. It was initially completed in 691 CE at the order of Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik during the Second Fitna, becoming the first work of Islamic architecture.

The Eastern Gate

This oldest of all the gates to the city was the only one not rebuilt by Suleiman the Magnificent in AD 1539-42. Monolithic stones in the wall just above ground have
been identified as 6th Century BC masonry from the time of Nehemiah,
(Biblical Archaeological Review [BAR], Mar/Apr 1992, p40).

The Third Temple

It will be agreed to the building of the Third Temple. The Third Temple, or Ezekiel’s Temple, as architecturally described in the Book of Ezekiel, will be built next to the Dome of the Rock, as it stands currently on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This agreement is with the explicit understanding, by all nations, that no harm will ever come to the Dome of the Rock, the Dome of Ascension, the Dome of the Chain, or to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Third Temple will be built 100 yards (322 feet) north of the Dome of the Rock and straight opposite the Eastern Gate. There is exactly enough room for the temple to be built, with the Holy of Holies directly over the Dome of the Tablets or the Dome of the Spirits. The Third Temple will face eastward toward the now sealed Golden Gate and the Mount of Olives. An acceptable easement, with a clearance of at least 150 feet, will exist between the Dome of the Rock and the Third Temple. The Dome of the Tablets or Dome of the Spirits stands unobtrusively due west of the Golden Gate; it stands over the original site of the Holy of Holies in Solomon’s temple. Projecting lines from the rock markings of the temple foundation, located the spot where the Holy of Holies would have been and it coincides exactly to the Dome of the Spirits or the Dome of the Tablets.

A. Dome of the Spirits or the Dome of the Tablets
B. The Dome of the Rock
C. Al-Aqsa Mosque

A sound barrier will utilize all technology to keep the integrity of worship in both areas.

This is the only way to resolve the Temple Mount issue. If you build Ezekiel’s Temple, it must be facing east, towatds the Eastern Gate, and if that is the case, the Holiest of Holies, is not on the site of the Dome of the Rock, it is on the site of the Dome of the Spirits.

There is enough room for both, but building it this way, is the only way.
